Halloween is this Thursday, and trick-or-treaters are advised to stay safe while out on the town.
Director of Maryville Public Safety Keith Wood says costumes should be visible to prevent accidents.

"With your costume, make sure it fits well and it doesn't have anything hanging off of it that can be a trip factor.  And also, make sure that it is bright colors and easily by cars at night and things of that nature and with reflective tape or stripes on it."

Wood also says inspecting the candy brought in is important.

"Make sure that the kiddies don't eat their candy while they're out in the process of trick-or-treating.  And instead, wait until you get that home and let the parents examine it.  Don't eat anything is suspicious of any kind of nature at all."

Trick-or-treaters should be aware of the weather. Forecasts predict chances for snow and ice during the day, with a high of 35 degrees, and a clear and cold night at 21.
